THE MEMORIES

Josine and Niek

David is a great photographer. He shoots beautiful pictures, he is very comfortable to work with and handles the whole process from wedding planning to presenting the photos afterward very well. Want to know more? Here is our story:

How we met David?
We met David at our friends wedding. Because he made great pictures and was fun to hang out with we decided to explore whether he could be the photographer at our wedding. David suggested a first meeting in which we would discuss different styles of photography and touched upon some more practical details of our plans. We liked his way of brainstorming about how our photos could look and feel like, before getting into the nitty gritty of how, when and where. That’s when we decided to work with David and work out our plans in detail. We decided to have a photo shoot before our wedding while boating from our house to the wedding chapel (Oude Kerk, Amsterdam). For the rest of the day, David would be present except for dinner when he would reload his batteries, revitalise himself and put the photos on an USBstick for display at our evening party. Based on this plan David looked for good photo locations in Amsterdam, talked to the captain of our small boat so that on our wedding day everything was well prepared (including back-up plan!).

During the wedding
The photo shoot at our wedding was fun. We were worried that we would not be able to have a big smile on our face for two hours while following instructions. This was not the case. We had lots of fun, the shoot was relaxed and we didn’t feel forced into poses. Basically, we could be ourselves. I finally have some nice pictures of my husband! During the wedding and at the party, David was present but not in an obtrusive away. He blended in the crowd and took a wide variety of pictures of friends and band posing and being unaware.

The days after
Of course we were really curious about the pictures! After our honeymoon, we were invited to see a set of some 35 edited pictures and some snapshots at the untouched 800 picture range. We were very hapilly surprised by the quality of the pictures, how we (and others) look like, the atmosphere and some daring angles. That’s why we decided to use three pictures for our thank you card. We were also pleased that we received all photos so that we can do with it what we like. On our request, he experimented so the photos do not look like the standard version you see in all the other weddingbooklets. He adapted style and atmosphere to our liking (hence, the merit of the first meeing).

Nothing to complain?
The only thing we regret is that we did not have sufficient time for family shots, caused by our more elaborate than expected wedding ceremony. We do have many pictures of people at our wedding, but not of the special guests and family together in our picture. However, as said, this was largely a planning mistake from our side.
