THE MEMORIES

Kylie & Laurence

I have known David for nearly 20 years. I knew him well before he started taking photos on a professional basis, when we were both just students studying for an engineering degree. But even at that time, David was forever dabbling in photography in his spare time. Always with some new lens or other.

To my knowledge, our wedding was the first that David acted on a “professional” basis. We were married in Tuscany, with beautiful weather, rolling hills of vineyards, and gorgeous authentic stone buildings as the setting. Foolishly, we had actually hired a professional photographer from Italy to cover or wedding, but when David asked us what we wanted for a wedding gift I immediately said that I would love for him to take his own photographs and put them in to an album for us. I knew that David’s coverage would be a little different, and so I thought that it would be lovely to have two different styles of photographs to capture our special day. Also, not really knowing the quality of the Italian photographer it gave me some peace of mind to know that David would be there as well.

On the day, it became obvious that David had far more imagination than the photographer that we had hired, and in the end it was David making suggestions for locations/angles/poses and the Italian photographer followed his lead. Having known David so long, obviously we were very relaxed with him, but he was also at ease with our guests who he did not know and vice versa. This was never a concern for us.

And the end result? Our Italian photographer did give us some wonderful shots. But our album is full of David’s pictures instead. I think this says it all.

Having seen many beautiful images of subsequent weddings that David has covered, and having spoken with him about them, it brings me great pleasure to see the kind of photographer that David has now become. I thoroughly recommend his personal, imaginative, and creative services!

Thanks again for our beautiful memories 🙂
